Minas Romanakis started Romans Building Services in 1995. Back then it was just him, a ute, and a reputation for doing things properly. 30 years later, not much has changed.
We do masonry. Stone, brick, block, concrete. Heritage restoration, structural repairs, repointing. If it needs fixing or building, and it involves masonry, that is what we do.

How we work
Same process for a back-yard wall and a heritage facade. The size of the job changes, the way we run it does not.

Easiest thing is to ring Minas on 0414 922 276. If you can send a couple of photos of the job through, even better. We talk about what you have got, what you think you need, and roughly when you want it done.

We come and look at it
Site visit is free across Sydney. Minas does the looking himself for anything heritage or structural. For straight stonework one of the senior crew might come out. We poke at the mortar, look behind the wall if we can, and tell you what is actually going on.

You get a real quote
Written, itemised, no surprises later. We tell you what the work involves, what we are using, how long it takes and what it costs. If we are not the right people for the job, we say so and point you somewhere that is.

We do the work
Minas is on the tools for anything heritage, structural or stonework. For larger jobs we bring in two or three of the team. Site is cleaned at the end of every day. You get progress photos if you want them and you can call any time during the job.

Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Romans holds a full NSW builders licence and we carry public liability and workers compensation. Licence and insurance details on request before any work starts.
How much does masonry work cost?
Depends on the job. A small repointing patch can be a few hundred. A heritage chimney rebuild is usually a few thousand. A full sandstone seawall can run into tens of thousands. We give a fixed price after a site visit so you know exactly where you stand before the work starts.
Do you do small jobs or only big ones?
Both. We do back-yard garden walls, single chimney repairs, small repointing patches, and we do heritage facades, multi-storey structural work and harbour seawalls. Same standard either way.
How long until you can start?
For small jobs, usually two to four weeks out from the quote. For larger heritage or structural work it can be six to ten weeks depending on the season. We try to fit emergency work in within a week when something is failing.
Where in Sydney do you work?
Greater Sydney. Our home turf is the Inner West and Eastern Suburbs. We regularly work the North Shore, Northern Beaches, Sutherland Shire, and the Hills. Outer fringes we take case by case.
